AI isn't magic. But it can be a powerful time-saver if you know where (and where not) to use it. As a teacher, you don't need one more shiny tool that makes big promises, but only adds to your workload. You need real support.
AI isn't magic. But it can be a powerful time-saver.
So, let's break down what AI can, and can't do.
What AI Can Do:
Draft Starting Points: you don't have to start with a blank page for things like lesson plans, parent emails, rubrics, or sub plans.
Streamline repetitive work: you can build workflows fot the things you do over and over again. Things like meeting agendas or newsletters.
Differentiate quickly: Prepping differentiated activities for the different learners in your classroom can take A LOT of time. You can use AI to adapt text for different reading levels, generate practice problems, and summarize long documents.
What AI Can't Do:
Know Your Students: Only you can do that! AI can't see your students' personalities, needs, or backgrounds.
Replace Your Judgment: AI is your assistant. You are the boss. It won't know what's appropriate unless you guide it.
Build Relationships: Connection and trust come from you, not a tool.
When you use AI as your personal assistant, instead of your replacement, you will free up time for the part of teaching that really matters...your students.
